Thanks to a grant of $10,000 from a local foundation requesting anonymity, and $5,000 from Friends of NRPL, the library has been able to install highly acclaimed, safe (no Internet connection needed) and child-friendly Early Learning Stations for the very impressionable preschool population.

These AWE Digital Learning Solutions computers are filled with more than seventy fun and educational games that children love to use. While playing, they are gaining key digital literacy skills and learning through engagement, creativity, and problem solving. Parents are often right alongside — guiding them through educational games that cover math, reading, writing and geography lessons.

A child’s work can be saved for the next time he or she signs on, allowing parents to track their progress, which is an added bonus. The computers are also a big hit with children with special needs.
