NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The New Rochelle Library has updated patrons on news and events.

Diwali recital: Renowed dancer Dipanwita Roy will present repertoire from the Indian state of Odissi on Sunday, opening with a traditional invocatory piece dedicated to Goddess Durga or Kali, who is worshipped in Eastern India during the Diwali festival. The recital will conclude with a self-choreographed piece on Indian patriotism - "Mangalam." The dance pieces will be interspersed with demonstrations of Indian classical dance hand gestures and footwork-with audience participation. The library suggests a donation of $2. The recital lasts from 3 to 5:15 p.m.
