New Rochelle Future Five Members OK Three Grants At Meeting

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- New Rochelle Future Five members, at their June meeting, discussed three grant applications that were received during the month of May.

The grant ideas were A Fun In The Sun Fundraiser; Interest Food Project - Strawberry Baskets for Seniors; and New Ro Movie Night.

At the meeting the participants broke into three groups to discuss the grant submissions.

The Millennial Engagement breakout group discussed the grant idea of New Ro Movie Night. New Ro Movie Night will be a chance for millennials to gather together to watch a movie on the projector at the NR Future office.

The Food and Dining Scene Future Five Grant Idea for this month was awarded to the Interest Food Garden Project to fund a Strawberry Basket Making Program for New Rochelle Seniors, hosted at the Hugh A. Doyle Center.

For Local Business Development the idea submitted was a Fun In The Sun Downtown Fundraiser. This Fun In The Sun Fundraiser would be held at New Roc’s FunFuzion and the grant money would go towards food and advertising. Ultimately, the fundraiser would help fund a trip to Dorney Park with 30 New Rochelle kids.

The Interest Food Garden - Strawberry Basket Making Idea and the New Roc Movie Night grant ideas were awarded $250 grants and $500 was awarded to the Fun In The Sun Fundraiser.
