The revival of D.L. Coburn’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play is scheduled to run at the Golden Theater through Jan. 10.

Jones plays Weller Martin in the two-person, two-act play; Tyson plays Fonsia Dorsey. After the two nursing home residents strike up an acquaintance, Weller offers to teach Fonsia how to play gin rummy. They embark on a series of games that -- much to Weller's chagrin -- Fonsia always wins.

Jones, who has been called one or America’s most distinguished and versatile actors, was born in Arkabutla, Miss., in 1931.

His film, stage, and television career spans more than 60 years and has earned him a Tony Award, a Golden Globe Award, three Emmy Awards, an Academy Award nomination, and an Honorary Academy Award. He is also known for his voice roles as Darth Vader in the Star Wars film series and as Mufasa in Disney’s “The Lion King.”

Jones had a stutter as a child, but overcame it through poetry, public speaking, and acting.
