NEW ROCHELLE/PELHAM, N.Y. – A Girl Scouts open house, an artisan marketplace and a Chinese New Year celebration are among the events this weekend in the New Rochelle and Pelham areas. For more events, or to add your own event, visit our calendar.

Friday, Feb. 8

Nursery Rhyme Time: 9:30 to 9:50 a.m. A joyful blend of stories, songs and finger plays at New Rochelle Public Library Chidren’s Room, 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle.

Global Tales: 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Climb aboard and travel through South America, Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia with Lavanya Misra. Participants also will create traditional arts and crafts and learn a few basic words in native languages. Huguenot Children’s Library, 794 North Ave., New Rochelle.

Toddler Time Children’s Program: 10:30 to 11 a.m. Lively sessions engage children and their parent or caregiver in music and games. New Rochelle Public Library Chidlren’s Room, 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle.

Teen Board Game Bonanza: 3 to 4:45 p.m. A tabletop gaming extravaganza for students in grades 6 to 12. New Rochelle Public Library Second Floor Teen Area, 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle.

Fun Fridays at Town of Pelham Public Library: 7 to 9 p.m. Drop off your first- through fifth-grader to enjoy a movie, arts and crafts, games and story time. Homework assistance and tutoring is also offered. Sign up at the library located at 530 Colonial Ave., Pelham.

Saturday, Feb. 9

Girl Scouts Open House: 10 a.m. Register your daughter for Girl Scouts at 971 North Ave., New Rochelle. There is a $12 membership fee.

The Marketplace at PAC House Theater: 11 a.m. Incoming Tide presents its fifth artisan marketplace where craftsmen, artists and food purveyors display and sell their work inside New Rochelle’s PAC House Theater. Admission is free. Parish House Performing Arts Center, 311 Huguenot Street, New Rochelle.

Chinese New Year at Pelham Art Center: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The center rings in the Year of the Snake with a lively demonstration of a traditional “Lion Dance” performed by Kwan’s Kung Fu Studio of Peekskill and an art-making workshop. The dance begins at 2:30 p.m. Wear red for good luck. Pelham Art Center, 155 Fifth Ave., Pelham.

Sunday, Feb. 10
North Avenue Indoor Flea Market
: 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. American Legion Hall, 112 North Ave., New Rochelle.

New Rochelle Humane Society Open House: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visit the New Rochelle Humane Society for our Open House – all are welcome to a guided tour of the shelter. Meet the adoptable animals, shop for shelter merchandise and have your pet micro chipped at 70 Portman Road, New Rochelle.

College of New Rochelle Open House: 11 a.m. The open house for prospective students will begin with Mass in Holy Family Chapel. Students will have an opportunity to learn about admissions and financial aid, hear from current students, watch a basketball game and tour the campus. College of New Rochelle, 29 Castle Place, New Rochelle. Free.
