What To Do In The New Rochelle Area This Weekend

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A graduation ceremony and family time are among the events this weekend in the New Rochelle and Pelham areas.

Friday, Dec. 14

New Rochelle Graduation Ceremony: 3 p.m. 14 youths will graduate from the New York Youth Works Construction Training Program during this special ceremony to recognize their accomplishments, enabling them to enter the work force. New Rochelle City Council Chambers, 515 North Ave.

Pelham Blood Drive: 3:15 to 7:45 p.m. Residents can donate blood for a good cause during this blood drive. Pelham High School Gym, 575 Colonial Ave.

Family Time: The Pelham PACT designates Friday evening as "Family Time" and encourages families to spend time together.

Saturday, Dec. 15

New Rochelle Winter Wonderland Showcase: 2 to 4 p.m. Children involved with the Strive Leadership of the New Rochelle Youth Bureau and New Rochelle Remington Boys and Girls Club perform during this special showcase. Admission is free and refreshments will be sold. Proceeds will benefit the New Rochelle Boys and Girls Club Remington Unit. New Rochelle Remington Boys and Girls Club, 116 Guion Place.

New Rochelle BID Family Day: 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Children ages 5 and older can decorate tea light holders, candy jars, ceramic hotplates, and more during this fair presented by the New Rochelle Business Improvement District. Wrapping paper and gift tags will be provided. Teachers and teens will be available to help children. New Rochelle Public Library meeting room and lobby. One Library Plaza.

New Rochelle Library Book Sale: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents can find books and other items at bargain prices during the Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library's book sale. New Rochelle Public Library, One Public Library Plaza.

Sunday, Dec. 16

New Rochelle Concert: 4:30 p.m. Residents can celebrate the holidays during the New Rochelle Songcatchers 18th Annual Concert for Peace. The event is free, but residents can give a goodwill offering. Songcatcher CDs will be on sale after the concert. A cash raffle drawing also will be conducted. College of New Rochelle Chapel, 29 Castle Place.
