The Swamp Donkeys Play Alvin & Friends In New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — The Swamp Donkeys return to Alvin & Friends on Wednesday night, the jazz bands only Westchester area appearance.

Band member Sam Friend is a New Rochelle native who graduated from New Rochelle High School.

The band playz traditional jazz, blues, jazz originals, vaudeville, modern jazz adaptations, and many other jazz and New Orleans-derived styles.

Banjo-playing Friend is one of the band's frontmen, along with Louis Armstrong sound-alike James Williams.

The Swamp Donkeys played to adoring crowds at JazzFest 2014, and played sold out shows at the Blue Note in New York City and other prestigious venues across the United States.

Cover charge is $10 and the music starts at 8 p.m.

Alvin & Friends is at 14 Memorial Highway in New Rochelle.
