The lecture will be on Tuesday, April 29, at 5 p.m. in the Jay Heritage Center, 210 Boston Post Road, Rye. Reception to follow.

The topic of Harvey’s talk will be, "Stewardship of New York’s Cultural and Natural History.” The lecture is free and open to the public.

Co-sponsored by the Jay Heritage Center, the John Jay Lecture honors the legacy of John Jay (1745-1829), first chief justice of the United States, and principal negotiator for the Treaty of Paris (1783) ending the Revolutionary War.

Harvey held multiple leadership positions with The Trust for Public Land (TPL) for 27 years. Under her leadership, the trust's Mid-Atlantic region – with community partners – designed and developed more than 300 city parks, gardens and playgrounds and purchased over a billion dollars of conservation lands to help create or enhance state, regional, rural and metropolitan parks.

Harvey most recently served as a senior fellow at the Jonathan Rose Companies and a McCluskey fellow and lecturer at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. She serves on the board of the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation and the Yale Leadership Advisory Council. Harvey holds a bachelor's degree from Colorado College and a master's degree in environmental studies from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
