Residents enjoyed carnival games, fair food staples such as funnel cake and cotton candy, live music, clothing and jewelry vendors, and discounts at Main Street stores.
One part of the street was sectioned off for a classic car show, sporting brightly colored hot rods decorated for the occasion.
Mayor Noam Bramson opened the fair to the public along with the 325th Anniversary Committee and the City of New Rochelle at 11 a.m but was not available for comment.
Jene'via Smith, longtime New Rochelle resident, tried her chances at the high striker game.
"The festival is a really good time, I'm having a lot of fun here," she said.
County Executive Rob Astorino was at the fair, meeting constituents and handing out brochures asking voters to vote for him against Bramson in November.
He told The Daily Voice, "I'm having a blast. It's a lot of people, a lot of fun. The old cars are great to look at. Its nice to see businesses out here getting some added traffic and seeing the community."
“This fair is an opportunity for residents of all ages to come out for a day of fun, right in the heart of downtown New Rochelle,” said 325th Anniversary Chair Marianne Sussman in a statement.
Upcoming events for the anniversary include Arts Fest on Sept. 28 and 29 featuring the dedication of a statue by noted artist Charles Fazzino; the Annual Thanksgiving Parade on Nov. 23; the 50 Homecoming Showcase on Nov. 30 and finally the end of year celebration on Dec. 31.
