New Rochelle Schools Highlight Black History With Upcoming Events

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The New Rochelle City School District is celebrating black history with an art exhibition and singing, dancing and drama performances event at New Rochelle High School on Saturday, Feb. 28.

The event will commemorate the life, work and legacy of Maya Angelou, using the themes of freedom and empowerment. 

The K-12 student art exhibition will run from Saturday, Feb. 28 – Friday, March 6 in the high school library corridor during school hours, and during the opening event in the high school's Whitney Young Auditorium Rotunda from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

Immediately afterward, the opening event will continue featuring singing, dancing and drama performances in the Whitney Young Auditorium from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission for performances is $3 for students and $5 for adults.
