New Rochelle Ready For Memorial Day Celebrations

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Westchester County residents will have plenty of ways to celebrate Memorial Day and honor those who have served.

Thursday, May 25: 

Yonkers: The Donna Walshin Community Center will host its annual parade and ceremony at 6 p.m. at 219 Ridge Ave. to Lennon Park on Lake Avenue.

Saturday, May 27: 

Eastchester: The Eastchester/Tuckahoe Veterans Ceremony Committee will host a special ceremony that will feature the reading of the names and placement of wreaths at 10 a.m. at the Holy Mount Cemetery, California Road. Wreaths will also be placed at the town and village monuments with a wreath-laying followed by a rifle volley and taps.

Sunday, May 28:

Eastchester: The Eastchester/Tuckahoe Veterans Ceremony Committee will host a tribute to fallen Hometown Heroes at 7 p.m. at the Eastchester High School auditorium. The Eastchester High School band will provide the music. The Eastchester/Tuckahoe parade will not take place this year.

New Rochelle: A grave dedication for veterans will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Beechwood Cemetery.

Monday, May 29: 

Bronxville: A special assembly, parade, and wreath-laying ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. Leonard Morange Memorial Plaza, on the west side of the Bronxville Railroad Station. The parade begins at 9 a.m. and ends at the Bronxville High School Great Lawn Monument. 

New Rochelle: Memorial Day service and wreath laying begin at 10 a.m. at the Memorial Plaza, Memorial Highway, and Main Street. A water service at Glen Island Park followed by veterans appreciation event, barbecue, all day concert and food from noon to 5 p.m. Bring blankets and chairs. 

White Plains: The annual parade begins at 10 a.m. on Church Street, continues onto Main Street and proceeds to the Rural Cemetery on North Broadway. The parade will be followed by services at the Rural Cemetery.

White Plains: The America the Beautiful: Memorial Day 5K Run/Walk kicks off at 8:15 a.m. at Church Street and Main Street. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Veterans Administration Hospital in Montrose.

Yonkers: The City of Yonkers Memorial Day Ceremony will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Washington Park Veterans Memorial, South Broadway. Following, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Ernest Pasqua American Legion Post No. 1506 will host a Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony in the Crestwood neighborhood of Yonkers. 

Tuesday, May 30: 

New Rochelle: A Vietnam War memorial dedication will take place at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

White Plains: The Fairview Fire Department, Fairview Engine Company No. 1 and Explorer Post 2038 will hosts their annual Memorial Day parade and ceremony at 11 a.m. The parade begins at the Fairview Fire Headquarters, 19 Rosemont Blvd. to Greenburgh Police Headquarters. Refreshments following the parade.
