“Folks: Picture Book Art of James Ransome” will include more than 50 paintings created by the artist, who is known for chronicling African-American history, traditions and experiences. Through tracing paper drawings and paintings, the exhibit will allow visitors to visualize the progression that an illustrated book follows from concept to final work.
There also will be a free artist talk featuring Ransome that day at the Ossie Davis Theater. Ransom will share his inspirations and processes through an illustrated presentation. A reception with light refreshments will follow at 5:10 p.m. in the Lumen Winter Gallery.
Admission to the library’s Lumen Winter Gallery is free and is open during regular library hours.
