“Life on Earth: A Photographic Tour of Global Biodiversity” is on view in the Lumen Winter Gallery through Friday, Aug. 8.
Chris Evers, founder and director of Animal Embassy, and Rebecca Bose, curator of the Wolf Conservation Center, have traveled the world experiencing remote places and the animals and people inhabiting them. Their stunning photographs from India, Africa, South and Central America and the United States examine the cultural and biological diversity of our world and include a number of critically endangered species in widely remote and surprisingly local habitats.
Two related programs and an exhibit reception will be held Wednesday, July 23. Live Animal Ambassadors from Animal Embassy will be the stars of the two programs. Participants will have the opportunity for close-up encounters with creatures such as a giant White’s tree frog, a spectacled owl or Eurasian eagle owl, a green tree python or emerald tree boa, chinchillas, a pink-toed tarantula, an Argentine black and white tegu and a Solomon Islands monkey-tailed skink.
The first program, Zoology for Kids with Animal Embassy, will start at 2 p.m. and will allow participants in pre-kindergarten through grade five to meet animals representing numerous habitats and classifications. At 4 p.m., adults and children can take part in Biodiversity with Animal Embassy, which will explore the value each of the live adopted/rescued Animal Ambassadors has within its natural environment.
For both sessions, seating is on a first-come, first-served basis to the capacity of the Ossie Davis Theater stage and the meeting room.
From 6-7 p.m., a free public exhibit reception will provide a chance to view the exhibit with photographer and Animal Embassy founder Chris Evers. Light refreshments will be served.
