Yogis of every age and experience level are invited to a special afternoon of outdoor yoga at New Rochelle’s Library Green.

The “Solstice on the Green” happens Saturday with registration beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the Library Green entrance on the corner of Lawton and Huguenot. There will be a special yoga class, guided by experienced instructors from 3:30-5 p.m.

All proceeds from the $10 donation will help create a yoga and wellness program at the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle. Participants also are encouraged to upload yoga photos to Instagram and tag them #wyasolstice.

This summer solstice celebration is co-sponsored by Westchester Yoga Arts, the Downtown Business Improvement District and the New Rochelle Department of Parks & Recreation, with great support from many local restaurants and other businesses.

Now, I will admit yoga is not really my thing. I am more into eating, so I’ll probably be at Library Green a little earlier in the day to enjoy the weekly Farmers' Market. But I hope those who are a little more flexible than me (physically and mentally) will take advantage of this opportunity to have fun, get fit, support our downtown and contribute to a good cause.
