AARP Tax Help will be available at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Trained AARP tax preparers have been helping vast numbers of our patrons in filing their taxes since early February. Last week alone, they completed a record-breaking 96 returns. The tax filing deadline date is fast approaching, and the volunteer counselors will continue to offer assistance to patrons. Those availing themselves of this service must be sure to bring whatever tax-related materials are needed to complete returns, including a copy of the 2014 return, and must arrive early. This service is first-come, first-served, and the line at the library's Lawton Street entrance often starts forming before 8:30 a.m.

"Jazz Meets Classical," by Soundview, will be on Sunday, April 19, at 3 p.m. Alexander McCabe's musical ensemble, Soundview, uses elements of Western classical music and jazz to create a unique sound. The concert will open with standards from the traditional classical repertoire, followed by jazz selections from the American songbook. The finale will be a performance of an original composition by McCabe, which was influenced by these two styles of music and is based on interplay between the wind instruments and improvisation by McCabe and members of the rhythm section.

Soundview is composed of its founder, McCabe, Dominique Soucy-Piscetelli, Susan Lafever, John Frisch, Morrie Sherry, Paul Odeh, Chris Haney and Barbara Merjan.

The performance will be in the Ossie Davis Theater. It is made possible by the Lillian Robbins and Rick Englander Memorial Fund. There is a suggested donation of $2.
