The library will screen "Billy Strayhorn: Lush Life" at 4 p.m. Sunday. Strayhorn wrote some of the world's most definitive jazz standards as Duke Ellington's longtime collaborator, and the documentary brings to life the mystery behind his complex life.
A reception featuring jazz singer Glenda Davenport and the Hiroshi Yamazaki Trio performing a set of standards will follow the film screening.
The 2016 African Dance and Drum Workshops will culminate with a performance led by Anthony Wooden of Bokandeye Dance with members of his troupe on Saturday, Feb. 27. The performance will celebrate the traditional movements and rhythms of African village life.
The free, first-come, first-served concert will take place in the Ossie Davis Theater at 2 p.m.
