"The Letter Writing Project” is a free literary event set for 7:30 p.m., May 30, at Recologie at 49 Lawton St. in New Rochelle. Wendy Wolff's program is a writing exercise designed to "relieve feelings of loss, regret, anger and remorse," according to a press release.

"Wolff, a writer with a background in advocacy, will share her story and her technique at an interactive book signing and sharing experience," representatives said in the release.

Light refreshments will be served and a special prix fixe dinner will be available for $15.

“The Letter Writing Project began as a tribute to my sister on the day that the world was remembering her and has morphed into an activity to say the things that you need to say before it is too late," Wolff said on her website. "The Letter Writing Project helped me to peel back the layers and figure out what is important in my life.”

Wolff said her sister "died with me a bit out of touch with her," according to the release.

"I can never take that back," she said. "That helpless feeling of regret will always loom over me regarding my sister, but The Letter Writing Project has prevented that from ever happening again. The letters in this book are professions of love, apologies, retribution, anger, grief, remorse, joy, fulfillment, gratitude, spirituality and hatred. They have created a space for me to further clarify exactly who I am in this world. What an enormous gift.”

The Letter Writing Project event is part of The New Rochelle Council on the Arts literary series.
