Mayor Noam Branson, Councilman Ivar Hyden and other area residents plan to participate in the opening ceremony marking the market’s third year, according to a press release.

This year’s farmers market will be every Saturday, regardless of weather conditions, until Oct. 31.

The market is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. next to the New Rochelle Public Library, between Memorial Highway and Lawton Street.

At least 25 vendors plan to participate this year, offering locally grown food products, such as fish and produce. Some vendors will provide baked desserts and special micro-brewed beers.

New Rochelle-area restaurants will sell ready-to-eat items, which people can take home or enjoy in the market’s outdoor dining area.

Every week, children can participate in free activities, such as arts and crafts.

For the adults, regional bands will perform free live music every Saturday.

“We want our farmers market to not only bring healthy farm-fresh and local produce to residents of New Rochelle and surrounding communities, but also to serve as a festive community gathering place bringing people to see their friends in their reawakened, revitalized and vibrant downtown,” Ralph DiBart, executive director of the New Rochelle Business Improvement District, said in a press release.

Each week will feature a Council for Community Services tent, which will provide information on a number of New Rochelle organizations.

Saturday’s opening ceremony will start at 10 a.m.
