A reception for “Lush Life – The Art of Hilda Demsky” will be held at 5 p.m. at the Council on the Arts Rotunda Gallery at City Hall at 515 North Ave. in New Rochelle. The exhibition, which opened April 18, runs through Wednesday, May 21.

"Ms. Demsky’s canvases are a testament to the vibrant and luxuriant beauty inherent in nature," representatives said. "The thirty-one oil paintings on canvas and aluminum are richly textured capturing nature at its best in many forms and in varied locations including Westchester, Connecticut, Maine, Vermont and Ireland. Brilliantly colored landscapes depict Hilda’s inspiration – water as a source of life and sustenance. Her waterfall paintings are visions of the forces of nature and the energy of life."

Demsky is an award-winning artist who attended Carnegie Mellon University and Hunter College. She has also taught art at White Plains High School and Manhattanville College.

The reception is free and open to the public.

The New Rochelle Council on the Arts Rotunda Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays.
