NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce is recognizing several local leaders as Women of Excellence.
Each of the women is to be honored during the 14th annual Woman of Excellence Dinner on Sept. 29 at Beckwith Pointe, according to a statement from the Chamber.
Among those women to be recognized are Jeanne Zaino, a presidential historian, television pundit, newspaper columnist and police science professor at Iona College.
Others include, Cindy Gallagher, vice chairperson of Westchester's WVOX and WVIP radio stations; Catherine Francese, director of religious instruction at Holy Name of Jesus Church in New Rochelle; and Tara Rosenblum, a local television news anchor and journalist.
Each woman has achieved impressive heights during their careers, according to event organizers.
Gallagher has been the "lynchpin of the (radio) stations" she's worked at for more than 30 years, according to the statement.
Francese has used her spirit, warmth and humanity to "touch countless lives through her work."
Rosenblum has earned over 100 awards, including 16 Emmys, and has used her position to reach out to the community to help others.
The dinner also will include the presentation of a Young Woman Leader of Tomorrow scholarship to one deserving winner. The scholarship is provided by the Zaukas family in honor of Muriel Zaukas who died in 2008.
This year's event is also to include a "special tribute" to past honorees.
"Over these 14 years, the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce has awarded quite an elite club with their selection as a Woman of Excellence," said Bob Marrone, executive director of the Chamber. "This year, we hope to recognize all of these special women in a unique way."
