All month long, the transFORM Gallery has featured the works of local artists - and one from Idaho - that were inspired by their pets and other animals in the wild.
To celebrate the closing of the “Rescue Me” summer art exhibit, the gallery is hosting a reception on Saturday Oct. 1, complete with local dogs, kittens and rabbits from the Humane Society of Westchester. and an indoor therapy pony from the Lucky Orphan Horse Rescue.
According to transFORM Gallery public relations coordinator Samantha Hochman, “Rescue Me” features the work of 16 artists from the tri-state area, with the themed show designed to represent both wild and domestic animals, from lions, tigers and bears, to cats dogs and roosters, created in a variety of mediums.
At the reception, there will also be a presentation by Jennifer Angell-Greene, a licensed vet technician who will be on hand to provide her expert advice on how to select and train their pets.
The “Rescue Me” closing reception will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the transFORM Showroom and Gallery at 20 Jones St. There will be a minimum donation of $10 for adults and $5 for children. Money generated from entry fees as well as 10 percent of all artwork sales will be donated to the Humane Society and Lucky Orphan Horse Rescue.
