James B. Donovan wrote "Strangers on a Bridge: The Case of Colonel Abel and Francis Gary Powers," with ghost writer Bard Lindeman.

It tells how Donovan negotiated the release of an American pilot whose spy plane was shot down over the Soviet Union in exchange for a convicted Soviet KGB spy.

The book was adapted into "Bridge of Spies" an Academy Award- nominated motion picture starring Tom Hanks and directed by Steven Spielberg.

The event took place at Habitat for Humanity's new "Made in New Rochelle" makers space at 659 Main St.
