Kevin Davis, 38, of Atlantic City, was sentenced on Monday, Apr. 8 to 15 years in state prison, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release. He pleaded guilty on Tuesday, Feb. 20 to first-degree attempted murder and second-degree possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose.

Investigators said Davis shot a man in the stomach and got away on a bicycle on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019. Through surveillance video from several locations, city police identified Davis and the home that he went inside after the shooting.

Davis was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019, after trying to run away from the home when police executed a search warrant. Officers found the clothes Davis wore during the shooting, a loaded gun that wasn't used in the shooting, a "large amount" of fentanyl, and items for packaging fentanyl.

A jury convicted Davis on Monday, Mar. 13, 2023, of the charges from the search warrant, which included unlawful possession of a handgun while maintaining a fentanyl production facility. Davis was sentenced to 48 years in state prison.

Davis also pleaded guilty in May 2023 to committing a home invasion in Absecon in October 2019 after prosecutors said he used the same gun from the Atlantic City shooting a month earlier. He received a 10-year state prison sentence that runs concurrently with his sentence from the March 2023 conviction.

Davis's sentence in the Sept. 2019 shooting will run concurrently with his other sentences.

Two other men also pleaded guilty in the Absecon home invasion. Mark Toulson, 40, and Kalim Selby, 39, were each sentenced to 10 years in state prison and they were eligible for parole after eight-and-a-half years.

According to the state Department of Corrections, Davis will be eligible for parole on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2044, and his maximum release date is Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2049.
