American Girl Reveals Doll From The Civil Rights Era

American Girl has introduced an historic figure in its new doll, Melody Ellison - a character raised during the Civil Rights movement in Detroit, reported the Huffington Post.

American Girl made the new doll announcement on CBS This Morning, said Huffington Post.

Melody belongs to the company's BeForever collection to be released this summer, marking American Girl's 30th anniversary, according to the Huffington Post.

In an American Girl YouTube video, author Denise Lewis Patrick, talks of writing the Melody stories — the character is based in the 1960s and has a passion for singing, the author says in the clip, reported the Huffington Post.
