Gregory R. Mahley of West Deptford was indicted by a Camden County grand jury on 38 counts of manufacturing and possessing child pornography images, according to prosecutors.

In total, detectives counted 20 victims between the ages of 12 and 17 and one teacher, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Gloucester Township Police Chief David Harkins,

An investigation by Gloucester Township police on Sept. 9, 2020 -- the first full day of the school year -- found mirrors had been installed inside stalls of a girls’ middle school bathroom, Mayer and Harkins said.

Mahley, an HVAC technician, is accused of peering at young females through the vents while they used the bathroom stalls where the mirrors were affixed, they said.

Mahley allegedly used a computer tablet to record videos of seven girls between the ages of 12 and 13, and one teacher. Mahley was found inside a utility closet, where he was allegedly recording the videos and detained by police, they said.

After identifying potential victims, detectives notified parents.

“Invasions of privacy such as this are unthinkable, particularly when it involves children,” Mayer said.

Investigators reportedly seized numerous computers from Mahley’s residence and truck and found multiple video-recordings of victims, authorities said.

With help from Mahley’s employer, at least three high schools and public buildings were allegedly identified where Mahley "surreptitiously recorded juvenile females" during the 2013-2014 school year including: Cape May County Technical High School,   Middle Township School District and the administrative office of the Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority, according to prosecutors.

Mahley was being held at the Camden County Jail pending trial.
