An employee at Chic-fil-A, located at 1991 Broadhollow Road, in East Farmingdale, left the keys to a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse on a table in the dining area on Friday, May 28 at approximately 6:55 p.m., said the Suffolk County Police.

Another employee asked a customer, Jeffrey Dowling, if they were his keys. Dowling said they were and proceeded to steal the vehicle with his accomplice, Stacy Basso, police said.

After an investigation, Suffolk County officers determined Dowling and Basso were the people who stole the vehicle. They were arrested at a business in East Farmingdale at approximately 4:10 p.m. on Thursday, June 17.

Dowling, age 39, and Basso, age 36, both of Farmingdale, had drugs on them at the time of the arrest. The vehicle was recovered at Avalon Court Drive in Melville and returned to the owner, police said.

Both men were charged with grand larceny and possession of a controlled substance.

They will be arraignment in Central Islip on Friday, June 18.
