At Load Up Day, in Parking Lot No. 8 at the college on 75 Grasslands Road in Valhalla, cookies will be dropped off from 8 a.m, to 11 a.m. and Girl Scouts, ROTC, adult volunteers, local service members and other officials will load trucks with cookies until 1 p.m.
The event will hold an official flag ceremony and program at 10:30 a.m. with remarks from Capt. James Van Thach and the Honor Flight organization. West Point Concert Band vocalist Master Sgt. Mary Kay Messenger will sing "God Bless America."
GSHH donated 90,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to armed forces members serving abroad, stateside and in military hospitals. Volunteer Alison Bergman began organizing Operation Cookie Drop in 2002 in appreciation of the U.S. military.
The Scouts will include personal notes and hand-drawn cards thanking the troops for their service.
Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson is the largest Girl Scout council in the state of New York with more than 31,000 girl members and 13,000 adults.
