On Tuesday, Sept. 23, he was on hand with a host of top-notch mixologists from the Little Wisco family of New York City restaurants to honor the creative life of dancer/actor/activist Mikhail Baryshnikov in a cocktail tribute.
The event took place at Bar Sardine in New York's West Village, where Little Wisco’s director of bar operations, Brian Bartels, was joined by two top mixologists from the Bar Sardine team: Kenta Goto, former head bartender at Pegu Club and voted Best Bartender at Tales of the Cocktail in 2011; and Brett Buehler, formerly lead bartender at the Upper West Side's Fatty Crab.
These three world-class mixologists each created a signature cocktail to represent the extraordinary life achievements of Mikhail Baryshnikov. The event included:
- Dancer, a twist on the classic martini consisting of Slovenia Vodka, sake, violette and pastis. Served in a coupe, it was meant to signify grace and elegance much like Baryshnikov's dance career.
- Actor, a combination of Slovenia Vodka, apple cider, lemon and apple bitters served over ice in a rocks glass meant to illustrate the thoughtfulness and sensitive mind conveyed through one's dialogue.
- World Citizen, a celery-infused Slovenia Vodka, dry Curacao liqueur, Pimm's, sparkling water and cucumber served over ice in a Collins glass meant to be expressive, unbridled and engaging in an effort to showcase how Baryshnikov's legacy stretches across multiple continents and regions.
Slovenia Vodka is served at most fine restaurants and can be found throughout the tristate area.
