Massapequa Woman Driving Drunk Causes Chain-Reaction Crash Into Farmingdale Restaurant: Police

A woman who police say was driving drunk allegedly caused a chain-reaction crash into a Long Island restaurant overnight.

The incident happened around 9:35 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26  in Farmingdale at Great Wall Kitchen located at 47 Boundary Ave. 

A 2011 Mercedes-Benz was traveling northbound on North Broadway, left the road, and collided with a parked 2018 Toyota, Nassau County Police said. 

The unoccupied Toyota then went through the store front and the Mercedes-Benz followed. 

It was determined the woman was operating the Mercedes was under the influence of alcohol, said police. 

A 51-year-old woman who police say was a customer at the eatery suffered a laceration to her right hand. 

The Mercedes driver, Lauren Potter, age 39, of Massapequa, suffered an injury to her ankle and complained of chest pain. 

Both Potter and the customer were transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment.

Potter has been charged with driving while intoxicated and assault. She will be arraigned when medically practical.
