NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Art of the American Automobile: An Innovative Car Show, sponsored by and located across the street of AJ’s Burgers was a major hit on the first day of the New Rochelle Arts Fest.
“This is the second year of this car show,” said New Rochelle resident and car show participate Gary Ricker, standing next to his ’71 Plymouth Cuda.
“I had this car shipped up from Kentucky,” said Ricker, who said that he has had the car for about 10 years.
“This show is relatively small,” said Ricker. “But a lot of people from Westchester, Long Island and the Bronx come for it.”
Ronnie Veltri, who also lives in New Rochelle, was surrounded by many on lookers who were trying to catch a glimpse of his 1966 Chevelle Malibu.
“I’ve had this car since February, I bought it on eBay,” said Veltri. “I had it shipped up on a truck from Florida.”
The cars at the show range from a 1941 Buick Century to a 1956 Oldsmobile.
Saturday marked the first of two days for the New Rochelle Arts Fest.
The Arts Fest continues all day Saturday with over 30 events that started at 10 a.m. this morning and ends Sunday at 5 p.m.
