African Dancers Coming To New Rochelle Library

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Bokandeye African Dance and Drum Troupe, directed by Anthony Wooden, will conclude the New Rochelle Public Library’s 29th annual International Music and Dance series at the Ossie Davis Theater at 7 p.m. Aug. 7.

The troupe, whose name roughly translates to "Family" in the West African Wolof language , will explore Africa's rich traditions through dance. The troupe has been a popular attraction at cultural and educational events such as Westchester's African-American Heritage Festival and the Hudson Riverfest. The troupe has members of every age group.

Admission is free but is limited to the 145-seat capacity of the Ossie Davis Theater, on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning at 6:45 p.m.
