Operation Prom Celebrates Grand Re-Opening In New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. --  For the past 13 years, the nation’s largest prom organization, Operation PROM, has been dressing students across New York, and nine other states with beautiful attire for free, so that no student experiencing financial stress would have to worry about not attending their prom.

Last year, the organization expanded their vision by offering a new fashion program, in their New Rochelle headquarters, “Fashion U." The program offered fashion classes for kids interested in design and sewing. After an unexpected relocation that put a halt on classes, Operation PROM has moved back to New Rochelle.

The new location at 2 Hamilton Avenue, will offer Fashion Arts classes for children and adults, and will include sessions of sewing, sketching, design, merchandising, styling, jewelry making and cosmetics creation. Proceeds from the classes will benefit Operation PROM.

Also new for the location: Operation PROM will be open for dress sales. The organization will sell formal wear and wedding dresses that are not distributed during prom season. About 90 percent of these dresses are brand new and under $99.

The shop is celebrating its grand re-opening Friday, July 21 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, July 22 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, July 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
