The Youth Council, open to teens in the grades 8-11, provides the opportunity to be part of a group of individuals who are concerned with youth-related community issues, officials said.

The group also sponsors service projects and interacts with other youth organizations across Westchester County.

STRIVE Leadership Academy meets from 4-6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays. It is open to anyone between the ages of 11-17.

The program, at the Hugh Doyle Center at 94 Davis Ave., focuses on dance, nutrition and fitness, choir and etiquette, and provides opportunities to learn about mentorship and tutorial services.

Applications for both programs are available at the Youth Bureau Office at City Hall, 515 North Ave., between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays. They also can be found on the Youth Bureau's website.

Completed applications for both groups must be turned in no later than Oct. 2. For more information, call 914-654-2045.
