The selection came after a comprehensive CEO search process. Rich replaces Julie Gallanty. He begins his new role Monday, May 2.

"We know he will further the mission of the Y in the areas of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Rich has been extremely successful in his past YMCA endeavors, and we are sure he will do the same here," said Martha Solinger, President of the New Rochelle YMCA Board of Directors.

Rich served as CEO at the New Britain-Berlin YMCA in Connecticut since 2011, where he led the reorganization.

During that time, he engineered a financial, programmatic and community recovery for a 133-year old city based Y, the release said.

"The YMCA plays an important role in youth development, healthy living and social responsibility all across this country, and I believe we can build stronger communities here with the assistance of great members, talented staff and committed volunteers. Together we will accomplish great things for our children, our families and our neighbors," McCarty said.

Previously, Rich served in various fundraising and development roles for non-profits, including at his alma mater, Fairfield University, and, before that, worked for both Aetna and SNET before entering the non-profit field. He holds a B.S. and M.B.A.from Fairfield University.
