NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce board of directors has named Bob Marrone the new executive director, effective May 5.
Marrone is best-known in New Rochelle for his 10 years with WVOX radio, most recently as the host of its morning show, "Good Morning Westchester." He also served as the station’s news director. Over that time, Marrone embedded himself in the community establishing relationships with businesses and government officials, as well as religious and social organizations, a skill he hopes to use in his new role.
He also brings to the job an extensive business background. He is a 30-year veteran of Wall Street, where he distinguished himself in the fields of executive management, training and communications. He was responsible for developing and directing full curriculums of technical and management programs for Merrill lynch that standardized learning criteria across the company. Later, Marrone created the framework for sales and technical training at Thomson Financial, as well as the annual basic training for college recruits at Deutsche Bank and Legg Mason. He has been an instructor off and on at the New York Institute of finance for over 15 years.
Marrone also has experience in the small-business and nonprofit worlds. He owned a retail outlet and related real estate investment in Yorktown Heights for 10 years and served as the treasurer for the York Street Project, a Jersey City, N.J., home for battered women and children.
Marrone has spent the last year doing communications-related consulting and completing a book to be published in 2015. He also currently writes a weekly column for the Westchester Guardian.
Marrone attended St. John’s University, where he majored in political science. He also holds a certificate in operations management from Columbia and studied publishing at The New School.
