“We have a great relationship with Burke,” says CEO K.T. Korngold. “We’ve been there since 1992, when the then-director of human resources Maureen Carr asked us to create a Montessori child care center on campus to attract employees to the hospital and research center.”

CME|NY had been operating the Montessori Children’s Center ever since, serving employees of Burke along with other working families in the community and surrounding towns looking for high-quality, educational child care for their children.

While the Montessori Children Center remains on-site, the corporate office has moved to New Rochelle, where a new adult training center has opened.

“When Burke let us know they needed our offices for their own purposes, we decided to use the opportunity to create a state-of- the-art year-round adult training facility for Montessori teachers and administrators,” said Korngold. “Having our corporate office in the executive tower of the Radisson Hotel in New Rochelle gives us an ideal location to serve our Montessori schools."

The first group of Montessori School administrators to train at the new location will start July 11. School administrators, principals and heads of Montessori schools will be traveling from all over the county (and even from other countries, such as China) to attend the CME|NY course.

In addition to the course for administrators, CME|NY also offers a year-round training for infant and toddler Montessori teachers at the New Rochelle location.

“There is a tremendous shortage of Montessori toddler teachers right now,” says Melanie Pappas, CME|NY registrar. “Every week we get calls and emails from schools asking us for certified Montessori teachers.”
