High Utility Rates Continue To Plague New York

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Recent data released by the federal government says New York state still lags behind most of the country when it comes to affordable utility prices, according to Capital New York. 

Con Edison charges 122.7 percent above the national average for utility rates.

Con Edison, the state's largest utility vendor, charged 26.99 cents per kilowatt hour, which is 122.7 percent above the national average, Capital New York reported. 

NYSEG was the only major utility in the state to charge rates below the national average at 11.68 cents per kilowatt hour, Capital New York said.
